the story of betty

When I entered the honda showroom in Jl. Jamin Ginting Medan back in 2008, I didn.t intend to buy her.
I was aiming for a Vario instead. But vario was out of stock at that time, the latest I can get the vario is three months time.

Betty : brand new

Honda Beat is new. It wasn't even on the tv yet. I am clueless about this scooter. Nevertheless, I choose her. The orange Honda Beat. The Betty.

Owning the Betty was uber cool. After a few months, strangers will sang the song 'Beat' popularized by the Indonesian Idol when I scoot through. I am happy. Betty helped me get to my destinations. Campus, society meetings, friends house, malls, etc.. she even made it to Bukit Lawang and Brastagi! :D

Being stopped by the police was scary. It was my fault coz my helmet was missing, and I didn't have the courage to steal my housemates, they were all sleeping at that time, and I thought surely they will want to use it later. So I went gung-ho to a society meeting place, which took place in Polonia, which is near the airport, thus police's fav spot. I paid dearly, and get a crappy helmet in return. But, it's pink.

My firsts with Betty is like the firsts with babies, 1st flat tyre, 1st service, 1st wash-her-yourself....haha

Honda, China, Singapore
When clinical started, I had to problem to go anywhere...until the accident happened. I'm separated by Betty for 2 full months for my recovery, while she and her broken things are left at Medan.

When I recovered, my friend helped me took her to Honda. She was severely injured, and needed a whole new front body. She (and me) waited for another 2 months for the body to be constructed (you see, at that time, orange Beats are no longer produced). I paid another large sum of money, and then I get her back, good as new!

It took some time before I took her to the main road. But as easy as ABC, she and I get along quickly, just like old friends. No more problems and dramas after that.

When it's time for me to leave Medan, I don't know why I'm being selective about who's who's gonna buy her. Many has deal me but I just seem to have trust issues. I'm handing over my baby, for heaven sake!

Betty's new owner!

Until I met this girl, who like orange very much, and like Betty very much. I sold Betty to her, and made a friend too. I hope Betty continue to serve her just as well as she has to me.

Betty last photo :D
Bye betty! What's next ? :D

Finishing clinical at USU

Salam blogreaders.
I've been away for 2 weeks to clear all academic and fees with the university in order to register the graduation. It can be a hassle if you don't know the process, but it'll be easy, insyaAllah, if you already know what to expect.

I'm blogging this entry just for the sake of USU juniors really, hope you'll find this beneficial.

1) The green book.
The green book which holds our clinical marks is to signed by the clinical coordinator.
So first, complete collecting all the marks from each department then you can proceed to the clinical coordinator. A delay in collecting all the marks means a delay in 'closing' the green book.
At this moment there are three person able to 'close'the book, dr. Rusda SpOG, dr. Ibnu SpPA, and dr Rusli Dhanu SpS.

*The length of your study time depends on the date of you 'closing' the book. Which also means your fees depends on it too.
** When 'closing' your book, make sure the clinical result form in berkas wisuda are filled so the coordinator can sign it as well.

2) BERKAS WISUDA
Berkas wisuda is the graduation register forms. You will be given a list of things you need to fotocopy and stuffs. Some of it are :

  • fill up the form, makesure that you have the Profesi Dokter form, not the Sarjana Kedokteran one.
  • fotocopies of previous SPP until the latest, in case you didn't know, those finishing before Batas Akhir Pembayaran SPP is free from that semester' fees, those finishing BEFORE Ujian Tengah Semester (UTS) is eligible to pay HALF, those finishing AFTER UTS is needed to pay full semester fees. Claim your money if you finish BEFORE UTS.
  • fotocopies of previous KHS
  • fotocopies of the green book, and you need to hand in the green book also
  • fotocory of your Sarjana Kedokteran certification. Make sure you already taken them when entering upper cycle, they'll be ready by then.
  • pictures, black and white, you'll find the specifications, but you'll also need extra to paste in the forms. Write your name and NIM behind each pictures.
  • Rp400,000.00 for graduation fees.

3) SKTL
Surat Keterangan Tanda Lulus is the most important of all, if you want to start working ASAP.
This letter, which name said it all, will entitled you to apply to MMC(Malaysian Medical Council) and KKM(Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia).
However, this letter takes about a week to be done. So plan your flight tickets wisely.

That's about it. Congratulations on finishing your studies. Welcome home.

cuak.

cuak.
it is a word that has a meaning so different from 'cuek'.
'cuek' is an Indonesian word that means 'not bothering to think or do something about it'.

apa-apun berserahlah kepada-Nya.

the thing is, my paeds marks tak keluar lagi.

itulah punca munca cuak nih. selagi markah takdapat, I cannot proceed to other matters.

esok, nak pegi berjuang di Medan semula. medan perang gittew.

Doakan in a week everything can be settled, insyaAllah.

sharing is...?

caring.

or so they say.

frankly i think people are used to sharing too much on the net these days.
two-ways conversations are now open for the whole world to see.
thoughts are updated every minute on the net.
your locations are proudly shared for everyone needs to tell everyone where they are.
relationships are to be announced, and be commented.

social network really rule our world nowadays.
facebook, twitter, foursquare, just to name a few.
to find someone who has not create a social network account is like finding a pin in bunch of haystack.

people now SHARES everything.

but who CARES now?

it is like talking and listening.
if everybody talks, who is listening?
they hear you, but they don't listen to you.

blog existed before the age of facebook. i encountered blogs during the age of friendster.
see how they became our timeline already? irony. timeline.

blogs takes time. it takes time to wrote an entry, it takes time for people to view it, and it takes time for people to actually read it.

nowadays people are fast. one sentence thought, publish. tweet.
yes, even though people now is tweeting, I hope our minds are still greater than the flying creature that it represent.

even me myself, tweet. but sometimes only. i don't want myself to get use to immediate thought-publishing.

okaylaaaaaaaah
i am bored person. and this is just a bored and lengthy thought.

conclusion, if you have to be on the net so much, just don't forget the people around you.
they are the ones that matters because they are freaking REAL.

till then, assalamualaikum!

back..again?

salam. its totally been a while.
and of course to write so suddenly doesn't often produce good entry blogs.
so forgive me for this entry, i just need to blog, just need to show proof that I'm alive.

and yeah, i finished my medical student course.

reading my last entry, i had to be thankful to Allah for so many blessings that I've received for so many fears I've contained.  I got new friends (even if they are more like my adik-adik) , a lot of new knowledge (be it from the residents and supervisors) and ending the department with a super nice lecturer. Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah.

New challenges awaits me.
but for now, I've got spare times to catch up with the family, the friends, and the Malaysian culture.(yeah baby I'm hommmmmmmme.)

InsyaAllah, till we meet again.

road not taken (yet)

4 departments to go. 3 with no oncalls. 1 with oncall, and a major must-know-it-all department.

how i hate that the fact that i am the only one, among my friends, that is yet to finished this particular department. the department with obsessed seniority among the resident and all. the department with killer supervisor. the department with rules that no other departments have. the eight week department. i dread it very much, part of it because i have to do it alone/with strangers (juniors) , and part of it because all the reason above.

i have 2 months and 2 weeks before I 'try' to enter this department. pray for everything to go well, pray for me to get excellent marks, pray for me to get friendly. And most importantly, pray for me to be a good doctor to the small-sized patients there. :)

ophthalmology post test is today. otorhinolaringology , or ENT (ear nose and throat) is the next department.

here and there

salam and hello blog readers.

i left the blog for quite a long time, for more than 1 month. I tried to blog a few times, but alas time and ideas doesn't permit me to.

i was thinking to blog about my 30 days of cooking challenge. not that i left it at there, i did cook, but i just didnt update the blog about it. so far, I managed to do 1/4 of the 30 cooking I was supposed to master. I'll come back later to that if I have time okay.

clinically, I am at ophthalmology department. it has a 1-month schedule, and now I'm in the last week. Waiting for post test, that is. Ophthalmology is an interesting department, but a stressful one too. Let's not elaborate more on that.

as this is my final semester, I was thinking to do more good for the students here. How? Ideas are popping up in my head now and then, just need to find the right person to execute the idea. it's time to give back, before we do that back in Malaysia.

I miss Malaysia terribly. even if its only 1 hour flight away, i just cant find the time to go to the immigration thrice and surely the tickets will be expensive if I were to go back unplanned. When I say terribly, I did mean so.

It was nice to see friends in Malaysia are progressing in their lives, some has made wedding plans (although I cant still make it :( ) . some has babies in their stomach (that I will manage to see, wait for me baby), many has graduated , congratulations guys!!! and few has second baby on their way. I cant say I don't feel a little bit down not having all this, (shuts emotional maternal instincts down) but I need to remind meself that I'm here for something greater, something good, for the mankind, to the people. be cheesy as it is, people need to have that semangat, that fire in their souls to keep living in this stagnant part of life. Allah knows best.

the poem

I knelt to pray but not for long,I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Muslim duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Allah to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord,I came,
 I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...But never found the time.

disclaimer : this poem I copied long ago from the net,but lost the link.

al-fatihah

daripadaNya kita datang, dan kepadaNya kita kembali.

it was a shocking and sad news to all of us, arwah Danial Zulkifli died in a road accident on the night of 17th August. I may not know this batchmate of mine very well, but I was utterly sad. The thought of him smiling when we exchange class still remains vivid in my head.

But kematian itu adalah pasti. Waktunya tidak diketahui.

Doa kami buat arwah semoga ditempatkan dikalangan orang-orang beriman. Sedekah kami tahlil dan yasin yang mengiringi pemergian beliau. Namun perginya arwah meninggalkan kesan buat kami semua.

Had it be me, I am not ready. I am not ready to die, padahal dari dulu lagi kita sudah tahu mati itu datang bila-bila.

Manusia memang mudah lupa. 'Lupa' adalah kata dasar dalam perkataan insan. Lalai. I was moved and I just hope that let this be a reminder for us all. Umat Islam yang beriman itu tidak akan mensia-siakan walau 1 jam dalam hidupnya melainkan untuk beribadat pada Allah SWT.

Kau Sahabat, Kau Teman by Hijjaz
Telah tiba saat waktu kau tinggalkan kami
Kerana takdir yang Maha Esa telah menetapkan
Sedih rasanya hati ini bila mngenangkan
Kau sahabatku kau teman sejati

Tulus ikhlasmu luhur budimu bagai tiada pengganti
Senyum tawamu juga katamu menghiburkan kami
Memori indah kita bersama terus bersemadi
Kau sahabatku kau teman sejati

Perjuangan kita masih jauh beribu batu
Selagi roh masih di jasad hidup diteruskan
Sedih rasa hati ini mengenangkan dikau

Bagai semalam kau bersama kami

Moga amanlah dan bahagia dikau di sana
Setangkai doa juga Fatehah terus kukirimkan
Moga di sana kau bersama para solehin
Ku sahabatku kau teman sejati

Take a moment, recite & sedekahkan al-fatihah buat arwah danial zulkifli, teman kami.

Even this is my fourth time joining this kind of thing, I still think that I need to learn a lottttttttttt! (emphasize on the LOT.) We managed to do 13 boys. With the total boys involved on this day 103. Phew.

day 1 : breakfast : introduction & karipap

salam. a bit much of me to do a teaser eyh?
actually i am feeling rather bored with the usual hospital-home routine.
and i feel like i need to challenge myself.
i tried all the sports activity. swimming, jogging, futsal yada yada.
it was fun, but not fulfilling. hehe.

so i think & think, let's cook!
i will learn something new, & i got to eat summore!
i'm not trying to cook fancy things,
just some stuffs that i like to eat...& are hard to find here in Medan!

so let's roll.
for the first entry, i choose to learn how to make karipap (curry puff) from norasliza.
she was the only person who i know cud make a karipap in a breeze.
thank you 4 teaching me dear friend!!!!

so here's how it done.

steps in making the exoskeleton of karipap.

a. divide the flour into two compartments.
b. one u dough it with water, one with margarine.
c. make small balls of the yellow dough & put it into the white dough. make a ball out of it.
d. flatten the dough (the one with the yellow inside it) & cut half so that u can roll it into e.
e. roll it & pull it a bit (u might wanna ask how to do this, it is rather complicated). once u have the elongated version (not in picture) roll it & cut in halves. Flat the halves & they are ready for you to put any kind of filling. you can put sardine, potatoes or anything inside it!
f. make sure the sides are flatten throughly
g. 'kelim' the sides. it's rather hard for 1st timers.
f. fry it!

i am sooooooooo happy that i have learned how to make a karipap! no more frozen karipap to fry, i can make it all by myself!! huahuahua.

i am not opening a cooking class here, just mere reporting that i have cooked! hehe. so if u wanna try, u cn ask in the comment column! or just DM tweet me! ngee.

sunatan sunathon sunat sunaaaat! wajib.

what a long meaningless title. hehe.
but you geddit right?
sunat = khitan = circumcision.

alhamdulillah last Wednesday, in conjunction with holiday in honour of Isra' Mi'raj,
most of the PPDS and the dokter muda *ehemehem* and medical students are involved in sunatan massal.
their aim is about 3000 young boys to be circumcised during that day.
but of course,
dimanaaaa tenaga medisnyyyyaaaa...

so those yang udah bisa can be an operator, & teaching their friends at the same time.
I managed to be one.
It was an opportunity not to be missed.

iha & febrina

iela & fara

iha seronok since it was her 1st time

the team : iha, me & febrina
we managed to do 5.  penatttttt pastuhhh.
we met a lot of people with deifferent attitude.
one thing i learned that we must know how to handle people. especially dramatic ones. T_T.
